Fake Research Essay Assignment:

For the fake research essay, you are expected to pick a topic that you have always wanted to prove but is nearly impossible to prove because sources do not exist, and then write an essay proving it. Don’t worry about whether there is enough evidence or sources to prove your thesis because you’re going to make the whole essay up. For this assignment (and this assignment ONLY!) you will create evidence and sources that you need. This assignment is designed to give you practice writing an essay with sources, so the content doesn’t really matter, except that it has to make sense and be supported by evidence.

1. 3-4 pages not counting the Work Cited page.
2. At least 3 made up secondary or primary sources.
3. Use a combination of direct quotes and paraphrasing.
4. MLA format.
